Every morning in the first break (around 6:03) I pray for some aspect of our country or city. And I pray for you, our Pulse 99.5 family. We are sprinkled throughout central Iowa - and each of us has a personal mission that fits in to His greater Tapestry.
"Save me O God, for the waters have threatened my life. I have sunk in deep mire, my feet do not touch solid ground, the flood overflows around and over me...my eyes fail while I wait for my God." - Psalm 69
"Save me O God, for the waters have threatened my life. I have sunk in deep mire, my feet do not touch solid ground, the flood overflows around and over me...my eyes fail while I wait for my God." - Psalm 69
TImes are uncertain right now. But take heart! Our God is no stranger to adversity!

"whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever brings a good report, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."
- Philippians 4.8
The daily grind has a tendency to soak into my soul like water into a roll of paper towels. Before I know it the petty things become smothering to my heart, and I am dragging my soul around like a dead weight. The bible talks about a "renewing of the mind." If I can place my mind in proximity to the excellence in things around me, I can escape the trap of fear, anger, and hopelessness.
This does not come naturally. It is a spiritual process that comes from a desire to escape futility. This is why beauty is so important to the human soul. Find beauty - and you will find a peaceful mind. Beauty in nature and art are potent for this process. But beauty in the mind can be enjoyed by a person who has never even had the privilege of of seeing.

Dear Republican Party fund-raisers,
I am grateful for your interest in my dollars to “defeat democrats” in the coming election. I would like to tell you, however, that I am very disillusioned with the spending of Republicans and Democrats alike. Guys (and gals) - you have a very poor track record. Your credibility is stretching the bounds of common sense.
Where were you when Social Security was being raided? Where is your history of accountability for your choices? Why should I want a health care plan that none of you have any intention of using yourselves? Where were republicans and democrats when Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s scandalous actions robbed me of 30% of my hard earned retirement funds?
I simply can’t count on either party any longer to reflect the basic interests of the constitution - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. So I am watching - and in some sense - shopping around. I suppose I am part of the “angry mob” who is no longer willing to be a passive recipient of all things government (why is the Federal Government growing by leaps and bounds while every other sector is shrinking?).
I started out a Democrat, became an Independent, and joined the Republicans after the Reagan revolution. I have come to realize that I believe deeply in conservative principles, upon which this country was solidly founded. I have raised my family in a free America, and I want the same thing for my children’s children. I am worried that my government’s inability to control itself is threatening my dream. I am a registered independent once again.
So - I will be watching the candidates you put forward. I will be watching to see if you will recognize what so many of us do - that America is right of center because that is where the constitution - and our freedom - requires us to be. And when I see candidates that reflect solid, tested conservative values - I will give my time AND my dollars.
I am tired of straw candidates. Give me some substance. Give me an alternative to the kind of leadership that is being exhibited right now.
Thanks for listening. Give me some change I can believe in. And I will give you some commitment that you can count on.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God . He was in the beginning with God.
- John 1:1,2
Good morning! Many people are confused about what the scriptures say about Jesus. It is popular to believe that Jesus started a new religion 2000 years ago. This is an incomplete assessment. Jesus is God’s Son. He “moved into our neighborhood” when His Seed was planted into Mary - to set into motion the rescue of the world. As the Son He created the world. He has always existed. Take that into your day!
